Audit firms take up to six months to fill roles despite pay rises

Major audit firms report it takes up to six months to recruit experienced auditors now that the pipeline of overseas professionals has been cut by COVID-19-related travel restrictions.
Auditing firms have raised the salaries of qualified auditors with four or more years of experience, but junior ranks have missed out on the pay bumps, according to data from recruitment firm Robert Walters.
The auditor shortage has led the corporate regulator to allow some companies to defer reporting their results and comes amid a separate long-term drop in the number of registered company auditors.
