After pandemic-related delay, Buffalo Grove restarts comprehensive planning process

Updated 5/19/2021 10:44 AM Buffalo Grove is bringing back the comprehensive planning process, as the village hits the play button on work that was paused because of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Monday, the village hired a new consultant, Lamar Johnson Collaborative (LJC), to help lead the process. However, the project manager will be Lesley Roth, who led the effort before it was paused, when she worked for RATIO architects.   The comprehensive plan will serve as a long-term vision for the village, helping to guide community leaders on future decisions regarding land use and development. Under the agreement approved Monday, Chicago-based LJC will receive up to $120,000 to complete the comprehensive plan.

Tue, 04/06/2021 - 5:31pm tim Vermont Business Magazine Vermont State Auditor Doug Hoffer has appointed Tim Ashe as Deputy State Auditor. Ashe takes over from Andrew Stein, who served in the Auditor’s Office for almost five years. Stein is leaving for a position in the Vermont Department of Taxes. Ashe joins the Auditor’s Office having recently completed his second term as the President pro tempore of the Vermont State Senate and sixth term overall. Ashe left that position to run for lieutenant governor, which was won by Molly Gray. Previously, Ashe chaired the Senate Finance Committee, and served on the Appropriations Committee, the Emergency Board, and the Joint Fiscal Committee, among other assignments. Prior to his Senate tenure, he served four years as an elected municipal official, and worked for three years in a Vermont Congressional office.

With 18 of 19 precincts counted in Lake County and all 11 precincts counted in Cook, incumbent Andrew Stein had 1,382 votes, incumbent Joanne Johnson had 1,362 votes, and incumbent Lester Ottenheimer III had 1,208. Former Trustee Mike Terson was trailing with 1,058 votes, while newcomer Gowri Magati has 634. The numbers do not include early votes and votes by mail, which make up about one-third of the vote.
