Broadway Rose Opens Its 30th Anniversary Season With THE STORY OF MY LIFE

Broadway Rose Theatre Company has announced that it will mount the musical The Story of My Life, and make it available for streaming February 5 - 28. Rentals are $25 per household for a 48-hour rental and will go on sale January 6. $5 tickets are available for Oregon Trail Card holders through the Arts for All program. With music and lyrics by Neil Bartram and book by Brian Hill, The Story of My Life weaves songs and stories together to explore the unseen ripples we make in each other s lives. The two-person intimate musical played on Broadway in 2009 and was nominated for four Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical.
Alongside pasta and toilet roll, one of the first things to disappear from supermarket shelves in the early days of the pandemic was hand sanitiser. What had been a low-cost, freely available product, became a highly prized and overpriced commodity practically overnight. As consumers scrambled to stock up on the antibacterial gel, hospitals and care homes also began to feel the pinch, struggling to provide staff with an essential tool for preventing COVID transmission.
In response to the shortage and an emergency appeal from the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, a small team of volunteers from Imperial’s chemical engineering department came together to find a solution, sourcing feedstocks for hand sanitiser and establishing a production line. Initially, the team relied on donations of excess ingredients from various other Imperial departments, converting existing undergraduate teaching laboratories into the main production area to manufacture the gel. A pressing demand for emergency COVD-19 ventilators triggered an unprecedented response across industry and academia. Andrew Wade reports.
In the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, an emergency call was put out to UK industry for assistance of all kinds. The nature of the virus meant that one of the most pressing needs was for ventilators, complex biomedical machines that assist gravely ill patients with breathing.
As hospitals across the UK started seeing increasing numbers admitted with breathing difficulties, companies from right across the manufacturing spectrum came together on multiple ventilator projects. Rather than single out an individual effort, The Engineer’s C2I award for Covid Response recognises the work of several collaborations that rose to this challenge.
