A MAN who “hears voices” spat on his hand and smeared it over an off-licence door, a court has heard.
Ciaran McKeown, of High Street in Ballymena, was jailed for 10 months when he appeared at Antrim Magistrates Court via videolink from jail on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old, who was charged with being disorderly and causing criminal damage, was “falling all over the place” when he entered an off-licence on Ballymena’s Cullybackey Road on October 24 last year.
After being refused a bottle of alcohol, he reached under a plastic screen and swiped change an employee was counting.
He called the staff member a “f b ” and, as he was leaving, spat on his hand and smeared it over the door, which had to be disinfected because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
