With 2021 still young, and hope in the air thanks to new covid vaccines and a new occupant of the White House, we can finally stop covering our eyes in horror and peer furtively into the future. As this new decade unfolds, which countries are likely to be the biggest economic success stories?
My bet is on South Korea, Vietnam and Mexico, three countries at markedly different stages of development. South Korea is an advanced economy, while Vietnam is what the World Bank calls a lower middle-income economy, like India or Bangladesh. Mexico, an upper middle-income country like Colombia, Botswana, or Indonesia, is somewhere in between. I predict that each of these economies will outperform others in its cohort over the next 10 years.
A DRINK driver said he was ‘stupid’ after being behind the wheel twice over the legal alcohol limit, a court heard. Paul James Barron, aged 32, of Broughton Crescent, Weymouth admitted driving an orange Mitsubishi Colt over the alcohol limit, as well as driving without insurance near his home address. Weymouth Magistrates’ Court heard how Barron had an alcohol level of 74 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath - the legal limit in England is 35 microgrammes. Prosecutor Andrew Newman told the court how Barron was seen by two police officers on Broughton Crescent driving on the wrong side of the road.

The Ole Miss Veterans and Military Services building was officially unveiled at the recently renovated George Street House last week. The building will now also house the Veterans Resource Center.
Veterans and Military Services’ move to the George Street House from the third floor of Martindale was meant to increase accessibility to students, according to a press release. Additionally, the Veterans Resource Center’s move from the basement of Yerby Hall is expected to cut down on a walking commute from the two buildings, which used to be 10 minutes.
The services of the office of military services vary widely, from assistance with GI Bills to Veterans Assistant insurance. According to Andrew Newby, the assistant director of veteran’s services, the Martindale office was too small for the number of students utilizing it.
