Centenary Rural Development Bank Ltd is a financial services provider in Uganda that is engaged in commercial banking. It is the third largest bank after Stanbic and dfcu banks.
According to the Annual Crime and Traffic Safety report 2020, Uganda lost money or property valued at Shs11.5t just only in economic crimes, translating into Shs32b being stolen every day last year.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Martins Okoth-Ochola, said the crime statistics last year were greatly influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak and the subsequent lockdown of some sectors.

Theft was also the leading offence in 2019 with 55,704 cases.
According the Annual Crime and Traffic Safety Report 2020, theft cases were mainly motivated by economic gains.
By December, 16,421 cases were taken to court, 5,257 cases secured convictions, 101 were acquitted, 1,176 were dismissed and 9,886 cases were still pending in court while 14,825 were still under inquiry.

The lowest ranking officer, a police constable, earns Shs470,000 per month followed by a Corporal, who earns Shs530,000, and a sergeant, who gets Shs570,000.
At least 1,258 officers, who had stayed on the rank of Constable for 14 years and above, were promoted.

On Saturday, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Martins Okoth-Ochola, promoted 3,097 subordinate police officers, but some officers will have to earn salaries less than what they have been getting while at lower ranks.

With many of the 2020 economic crimes still unresolved, financial institutions have urged the government to strength investigative capacity of crime prevention institutions, as well as the criminal justice system, to detect, prevent, investigate and fully prosecute rising cases of big-ticket fraud and embezzlement cases.
