Barn Arts releases new episode of BarnWaves  - Mount Desert Islander

Barn Arts releases new episode of BarnWaves  BASS HARBOR   Barn Arts released a new episode of BarnWaves, the podcast described as “musical audio fiction sound art for your ears,” created by the local nonprofit. The new BarnWaves episode is called Escape to Rockstonia, which features performances by local artists as well as Barn Arts regulars Maki Borden and Wes Zurick, who are based in New York City. The new episode is the latest offering from the Tremont arts organization, and it continues a project that began in March 2020.  “Maki and Wes came up in March and we were working with students at the Trenton School on a new project,” said Barn Arts Artistic Director Andrew Simon. “They were here when the schools closed and New York became the epicenter of the pandemic.” The visiting artists had planned to be on MDI for two weeks and instead stayed for seven. Their jobs were canceled and they shifted their attention to making something new.

Players that fell off 2021 Hall of Fame ballot

share-square-1496441 Eleven new players joined the Hall of Fame ballot for 2021, but only three will remain there for 2022. That would be Mark Buehrle, Torii Hunter, and Tim Hudson, who received 11, 9.5, and 5.2 percent of the vote, respectively, from the Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA), which revealed its results Tuesday night on MLB Network. While this trio cleared the 5 percent mark necessary to stay on the ballot for next year, eight of their fellow first-timers did not. These players aren’t moving on in the Hall of Fame voting process, but just being on the ballot in the first place is a high honor. One must appear in at least 10 big league seasons to be considered, and even then, becoming a candidate is not guaranteed. Each of the players who were new on the 2021 ballot put together highly accomplished careers that are worthy of admiration, even if they weren’t judged to be worthy of Cooperstown. Available 2021 MLB free agents on one super team

A slow-moving free-agent market has begun to get into gear over the past week, with the top available relief pitcher (Liam Hendriks, White Sox), one of the top position players (DJ LeMahieu, Yankees) and one of the most accomplished starting pitchers (Corey Kluber, Yankees) coming off the board. Still, many

Top veteran free-agent pitchers available

share-square-374917 This offseason, we’ve seen one recent Cy Young Award winner get traded (Blake Snell, to the Padres), and are awaiting the signing of another (free agent Trevor Bauer). But those aren’t the only available starting pitchers with some impressive lines on their résumés. Besides Bauer, seven other current free agent starters have a Cy Young Award, rank in the top 10 among active pitchers in Baseball-Refererence WAR , or both. While Bartolo Colon is technically still a part of this list and many would be delighted with his return he is 47 and hasn’t been with an MLB team since 2018. So we’re excluding him here.
