The Independent Office for Police Conduct has cleared Lincolnshire Police of any wrongdoing after concluding its investigation relating to a fatal crash near Lincoln.
A 25-year-old female pedestrian, who has since been named as Samantha Jayes, died as a result of suicide after she was hit by a van on Middle Street in Burton village at around 1.25am on March 4 last year.
The IOPC investigated the matter following a referral from Lincolnshire Police after the force attended an incident involving the same woman during the evening of Tuesday, March 3 last year.
Police attended an incident on March 1 involving her walking in the road and she was taken to hospital as a place of safety. She had been found on Middle Street in Burton threatening to take her own life.

Lincoln City have been given a cash injection of £800,000 by the board, the single most ever for the football club, to protect it from COVID-19 lockdown effects.
The Imps’ board of directors invested the large sum in order to safeguard the club from any potential financial downfall as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
It comes after a fairly busy January transfer window for Lincoln, as the club signed the likes of Regan Poole, Cohen Bramall and Max Sanders on undisclosed fees.

Open Letter of Concern to Governments on Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide Against Uyghurs in China

We, the undersigned human rights and genocide prevention organizations, and individual practitioners, are deeply concerned over mounting evidence that Chinese government policies targeting Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslim-majority peoples in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China strongly suggests that crimes against humanity and genocide are taking place.
The international community has the responsibility to respond to these crimes and protect Uyghurs and other Turkic peoples through diplomatic, humanitarian and other peaceful means.
The atrocities being perpetrated are no less egregious if they are found to constitute one international crime or another.
