It was agreed this week that its grant funding policy should be changed/ This means grant applications during the year could receive up to £999 instead of the £250 limit now in force. The last review, which imposed the limit, was in 2018. In a report to council the town clerks said: “The limitation can on occasion work against the council’s funding desires to support local organisations, and this has been particularly apparent during the current, pandemic impacted, financial year.” Grants of £1,000 and £2,000 must still be applied for on an annual basis to be included in the council’s budget. Grants are made to non-profit organisations or individuals who benefit or .represent the town.
