ANN ARBOR, MI Several longtime Ann Arbor-area businesses have closed this year for various reasons, including the coronavirus pandemic.
Businesses flexed their creative muscles to try staying afloat during a year of stay-at-home orders, government-mandated closures and social distancing brought on by COVID-19. Others shut down completely after finding their business was not feasible without daily traffic.
Here’s a list of several Ann Arbor-area businesses that have closed throughout the year.
\aut\ BAR, located at 315 Braun Court in Ann Arbor, opened as a gay bar in 1995. In February 2019, BarStar Group announced it had bought the bar.

ANN ARBOR, MI Several Ann Arbor-area businesses struggled to stay afloat during a year of state-ordered closures and social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, despite the challenges or delays some experienced, new businesses did manage to open in the midst of the COVID-19.
Retailers for clothing, chocolate, records and more are a few businesses to launch in 2020. Here’s a list of several Ann Arbor-area businesses that have opened this year.
St. Joseph Mercy Hospital near Ann Arbor receives 975 doses of COVID-19 vaccine

SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, MI Coronavirus vaccines are underway at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital near Ann Arbor.
The health system received the shipment of 975 doses of the FDA-Approved Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, Dec. 17 at its Ann Arbor-area hospital, according to a news release.
“We will continue to vaccinate as many employees as possible each week. We are confident in the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, and strongly encourage everyone ages 16 and older to be vaccinated as the vaccine becomes more widely available,” said Dr. Rosalie Tocco-Bradley, chief clinical officer at Trinity Health Michigan, he umbrella of the St. Joseph Mercy health system, in a statement.

ANN ARBOR, MI – Outdoor dining is temporally suspended at one of Ann Arbor’s well known downtown restaurants after a heater caused a fire while guests were eating Wednesday night.
At 8:48 p.m. Dec. 9, fire crews were called to Good Time Charley’s, 1140 S. University Ave., for a fire that sparked in the outdoor patio seating area, according to the Ann Arbor Fire Department.
