ABRAHAM PAPALI’I HAS signed a new contract with Connacht which will keep him at the Sportsground until the summer of 2022.
The number 8 has impressed for the province since his arrival last July, scoring three tries in 11 appearances.
The powerful New Zealander has now been rewarded with a one-year extension to a deal that was due to expire at the end of this season.

CONNACHT RUGBY HAVE appointed their new forwards coach, with South African Dewald Senekal joining the province from the beginning of the 2021/22 season.
Senekal comes to The Sportsground with extensive coaching experience, most recently serving as forwards coach for Stade Francais in the Top 14 after succeeding Ireland and Munster legend Paul O’Connell in the role.

SITTING IN FRONT of the media, via Zoom, just after lockdown last September, Ulster centre James Hume declared that his five-year plan had him assuming the outside centre jersey at the province on a consistent basis by the end of the season.

Ireland-qualified Australian Mack Hansen has signed for Connacht ahead of the 2021-22 season.
The 23-year-old can play across the back three or as out-half, and has played a key role in the Brumbies Super Rugby AU campaign this season, featuring in all eight games and scoring three tries.
Hansen, whose mother hails from Cork, represented the Australian U20s at the 2018 World Cup and was handed his full debut for the Brumbies in March 2019, coming off the bench in a win over the Waratahs.
He was named Super Rugby Player of the Round in Round 2 after scoring a hat-trick in their win over the Waratahs. He has made 11 clean breaks this season, putting him in 2nd place for most clean breaks by any player across both Super Rugby leagues, and sits in the top 10 for most metres carried.

CONNACHT COACH ANDY Friend remains hopeful of keeping Irish lock Quinn Roux at the Sportsground next season.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and was not included on the list last month when Connacht named 21 players who had penned new deals.
