Comings & Goings: Davis Chickpeas closes; at least two bars do, too

Chickpeas Kitchen closed its Davis restaurant at 640 W. Covell Blvd., earlier this month. Owner DeKristie Adams is keeping the Woodland eatery at 800 Main St. open. The restaurant offers Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food like shawarma, falafels, gyros, tabbouleh, pitas and hummus.
In 2014, Mike Bennamer opened the Davis Chickpeas in Anderson Plaza. After Adams became a partner in 2017, they added Woodland, Sacramento (which closed in March) and Fairfield (which closed in July). It was in the process of adding franchising when the pandemic hit. Now, Woodland is the only one left, and its first franchise deal for a store in Marin County fell through.
With new COVID-19 cases in Idaho arriving by the hundreds each day, the need for testing remains critical in the stateâs response to the pandemic.
The Idaho Press has compiled the current list of testing locations in Ada and Canyon counties, with contact information, testing criteria, and the type of test offered at each location.
Central District Health is expecting more testing locations will open up. The district has been working to get antigen tests to offer rapid testing at high-priority locations, said district spokesman Brandon Atkins.
The number of COVID-19 tests performed in Idaho has more than doubled since mid-September. In the week of Nov. 8-14, more than 38,000 tests were performed statewide, according to the stateâs coronavirus dashboard.
