Anderson police conduct sweep of illegal encampments, arrest 3
The Anderson Police Department conducted a sweep of illegal encampments along Anderson Creek and arrested three people.

ANDERSON, Calif. - Several homeless encampments were shut down by the Anderson Police Department Problem-Oriented Policing Team, Anderson police said.
The sweep of illegal encampments was along the Anderson Creek and Barney Street area.
Police said they found a large amount of trash near the creek.
63-year-old Bret Frye, 67-year-old Nancy Yearry and 50-year-old Kevin Smith were all arrested during the sweep.
Yearry and Frye were arrested on misdemeanor arrest warrants and illegal camping. Smith was arrested for a felony warrant, illegal camping and possession of methamphetamine.

I-20 – From Gregg County Line to Louisiana State Line, repairing concrete pavement in westbound lanes. Various lane closures.
US 59 – From one mile south of FM 1997 to FM 1793, installing safety barrier cable. Daily lane closures.
SH 43 – At Kansas City Southern Railroad in Karnack, widening bridge over railroad. All traffic restricted to one lane with signal lights controlling traffic through work zone.

After a zero per cent increase to taxes in the initial throes of COVID-19 in 2020, council has nudged the line by 1.75 per cent in 2021 amidst the third wave of the virus. The increase approved by council last week in its regular (online) meeting is considered inflationary because it is offset by the $2.6 million in COVID-19 Safe Restart grant funding the city received in late 2020.
