Lorain County said farewell to longtime leaders on Dec. 16 in the final 2020 meeting of the Lorain County commissioners.
After 20 years Lorain County Administrator Jim Cordes will leave after the commissioners voted to terminate him earlier this month.
The boardâs legal counsel, Lorain County Assistant Prosecutor Gerald Innes, also said his goodbyes after announcing his retirement after 28 years earlier this year.

Cordes and Innes were both honored with the commissioners renaming the jury assembly room at Lorain County Common Pleas Court as the Gerald A. Innes Jury Assembly Room in addition to the James R. Cordes Community Room at the Lorain County Transportation and Community Center.

The coronavirus pandemic continues to rattle the state’s political circles, as one of the top-ranking Republicans in the New Hampshire House announced she had tested positive, and lawmakers and State House staff lined up to be tested for the virus in the wake of House Speaker Dick Hinch’s death from COVID-19.
Rep. Kimberly Rice, of Hudson, disclosed her condition Saturday in a Facebook post in which she described feeling horrible and said she was struggling to breathe. She said she welcomed prayers but also expressed confidence she would “beat COVID.”
