March 28, 2021 Bumble bees are welcome additions in early spring. The containers of pansies are colorful as we reach toward the end of March. The bumblebees visit the pansies every afternoon. Very few flowers are in bloom in late March and the bumblebees are attracted to the bright colors of the pansies. The pansies have been in bloom for most of the winter and are now a haven for the early bumblebees of spring. The pansies will have flowers until the end of April. It will be hard to pull them up to replace with the annuals of spring and summer. We will miss the pansies and their pretty faces but the bumblebees will be around to enjoy the summer annuals.

DeKalb County commissioners urge state lawmakers to address street racing Street racing problem in DeKalb County DeKalb County officials are working to figure out a way to solve the street and stunt racing issue. DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Residents along Briarcliff Road in DeKalb County said the two-lane road resembled a race track this weekend, as street racers invaded their community for a second time in recent weeks. A FOX 5 News producer recorded street racers doing donuts in a shopping center parking lot off Briarcliff Road in DeKalb County on December 19. They were back at it a few weeks later said resident Nowell Briscoe who reported cars flying down Briarcliff Road between the Sage Hill shopping center and North Decatur Road late Saturday night. Briscoe described the scene as bumper-to-bumper with cars racing up and down Briarcliff in both lanes.

Some Citizens Eligible for Internet and Computer Discounts DOBSON – The Emergency Broadband Benefit will provide some Surry County citizens a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer or tablet from participating providers if they contribute $10-$50 toward the purchase price. The Emergency Broadband Benefit is limited to one monthly service discount and one device discount per household. A household is eligible if one member of the household: • Qualifies for the Lifeline program; • Receives benefits under the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision, or did so in the 2019-2020 school year;
