The hospital which will cater for inpatients, is a non-COVID hospital.
It is understood that the hospital would be in operation for 21 days awaiting the end of the lockdown period of the Lautoka Hospital.
The Acting Superintendent at the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital, Dr Luke Nasedra said the hospital was intended to be in operation from yesterday.

The Health Ministry’s Chief Medical Advisor Doctor Jemesa Tudravu says they anticipate the Fiji Emergency Medical Assistance Team Field Hospitals at the old Government Supplies building in Natokowaqa and Nadovu Park in Lautoka to be operational today.
These hospitals will link with other health facilities in Lautoka, Nadi and Ba hospitals.

FORTY-four areas in Lautoka where families have been in lockdown for more than two weeks have been receiving food packs from FRIEND (Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises and Development) Fiji.
The non-governmental organisation gave food packs to the Commissioner Western’s office for distribution to about 200 families presently in isolation.
FRIEND Fiji executive director Sashi Kiran said they were approached by the Commissioner Western’s office to supply food rations to families affected by the April 19 lockdown.

Good Samaritans are hard to come by.
This is true for Daniel Kumar, 51, a taxi driver of Lautoka, who took in a stranded family of Kavagasau, Nadroga, to his house in Naikabula.
The family of four was stranded in Lautoka when it was declared a containment zone just after their young son underwent leg surgery at the Lautoka hospital. They were discharged on the day of that Nadi-Lautoka were declared a containment area on April 19.
