Connecticut education Commissioner Miguel Cardona is being considered to be President-elect Joe Biden’s education secretary, according to a spokesman for Gov. Ned Lamont.
“We know he’s being vetted and we know he’s under consideration,” said Max Reiss, Lamont’s communications director. “Commissioner Cardona has proven to be an incredible leader for the state of Connecticut during unprecedented times. We know he would be a great leader in a Biden-Harris administration.”
The Washington Post reported Wednesday that Cardona was one of two frontrunners. The newspaper said Cardona and Leslie T. Fenwick, a former dean at Howard University, were the two candidates Biden’s transition committee “is focusing its attention on . at the moment,” according to three people familiar with the process. Another source told The Post that other candidates are also being considered.
