US police and bystanders rush to lift car off trapped baby Police officers and bystanders in the US state of New York have been filmed lifting a car to save a baby trapped underneath. The frantic incident happened when a 43-year-old driver, David Poncurak, allegedly crashed into a car before careening across the road and into the storefront of a local barber shop in the town of Yonkers on Friday. A woman had been crossing the street at the time with her eight-month-old daughter in her arms. The pair were hit by the car and thrown onto its bonnet as it smashed into the shop.

Authorities responded to a motor vehicle crash at 124 Lake Avenue in Yonkers at about 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 23, according to the Yonkers Police Department.  Police said a man driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra was northbound on Morningside Avenue when he turned west onto Lake Avenue. Police said that s when the driver hit a curb, a parked vehicle and two pedestrians. He then accelerated into the barbershop.
