Oranga Tamariki staff did wrong and face losing jobs

Oranga Tamariki staff did wrong and face losing jobs - Davis © RNZ / Dom Thomas Children s Minister Kelvin Davis has stopped short of saying abuse that closed an Oranga Tamariki residence is systemic, but says the future of staff involved is up in the air . Davis said chief executive Sir Wira Gardiner had made the right decision in temporarily shutting the facility down after footage emerged of a young person being tackled and held in a headlock. I back him 100 percent. There were a number of factors that fed into him making that decision and it was the right one to make . I support him in making that decision.

MIQ staffing helps put back rollout of new police recruits in priority areas

Photo: RNZ / Richard Tindiller The police had wanted to put 160 new staff recruited in the past year into the organised crime unit, but instead they were sent to MIQ facilities after a request for help. Police told the government that means some regions could miss out on new officers for some time, and other priority areas could also suffer. As part of the 1800 extra police promise, to be delivered by June 2023, 700 organised crime roles are supposed to be filled. In documents obtained under the Official Information Act, the Commissioner Andrew Coster was approached by the Acting Deputy Commissioner Angela Brazier about prioritising Serious and Organised Crime roles where possible after the police were approved to bring forward the recruitment of 160 officers in the 2020-21 year.

Sen Cassidy demands federal bureaucrats to return to work

WASHINGTON  – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, R-La., Wednesday delivered a speech on the Senate floor expressing incredible frustration with federal agency employees that have been paid, but not working for the past year. The speech highlighted Lake Charles, Louisiana veteran Albert Duplantis and his year-long struggle to receive paperwork from the National Personnel Records Center required to obtain medical attention to treat his heart condition. “We’re over one year into the pandemic and they’re still not processing records. Bureaucrats are sitting at home collecting a paycheck without working. This is unacceptable, with vaccines widely available, there is no excuse this mandatory work is not being done. If you aren’t willing to do your job, you shouldn’t have the job. These great Americans were willing to go to war for our freedom, but federal employees won’t go into the office to file paperwork. Meanwhile veterans like Mr. Duplantis
