Florida has just passed new voting laws amid the phony controversy around Georgia’s new voter law:
NBC NEWS – Florida’s Legislature passed an election bill Thursday that includes restrictions on drop boxes and voting by mail over the concerns of Democrats and voting rights activists that the restrictions would amount to voter suppression.
Both the House and the Senate passed the bill Thursday after weeks of negotiations between Republicans in both bodies. The bill is poised to be signed into law by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has already blessed efforts to enact restrictions along these lines.

The police reform bill that has garnered bipartisan support is going to Gov. Ron DeSantis. The bill was a product of House and Senate leadership working with the Legislative Black Caucus.
A few weeks ago, talk about law enforcement reform largely went unnoticed. Fast forward to the present, and the Florida Senate has unanimously passed a police reform bill aimed at covering de-escalation training, limiting the use of chokeholds, and requiring officers to disclose whether they’ve ever been investigated for using excessive force.
Sen. Darryl Rouson, D-St. Petersburg, took part in protests last summer following the police killing of George Floyd. “I think that they’re those who will look at this and say that with a summer of unrest after the George Floyd murder, we needed to do substantial criminal justice reform,” Rouson said. “This is a good start it gives us a foundation to build upon for next session, and we should tell the world keep watching.”

Tallahassee, FL – With several Black lawmakers heralding what they described as a starting point to improve community interactions with police, the Florida Senate on Thursday gave final approval to a bill that includes new use-of-force training requirements for officers. The measure (HB 7051) moved swiftly through the Legislature after it was filed in the House about two weeks ago. After unanimous votes in the Senate and House, the bill is headed to Gov. Ron DeSantis. The measure seeks to address aspects of policing that came under scrutiny after the death of George Floyd, a Black man who was killed by ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin nearly a year ago.
