A Brantford company has been fined $50,000 after two workers were injured while on the job, according to a news release from the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.
Lorik Tool & Automation Inc., a small business and manufacturer of custom automated machinery located at 19 Copernicus Boulevard, failed to ensure that there was a procedure in place to prevent material from injuring workers by tipping or falling.

A tool and die company has been fined $50,000 for an accident that injured two workers at its Copernicus Boulevard plant.
On June 19, 2018, the two men were trying to load a five- by 2.5-metre electrical panel that weighed more than 1,800 kilograms at Lorik Tool and Automation Inc. They were hurt when the panel flipped over while it was being moved.

The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development conducted an investigation and found there was no proper procedure in place for loading such a panel onto a truck and that the panel had not been secured against the possibility of falling.
