The vaccines were processed and released through the bureau’s advance clearance process to ensure its expedient release and delivery. Underguarding duties were also done by the BOC’s COVAX Special Handling Task Force, which was composed of members of NAIA’s Enforcement and Security Service and Aircraft Operations Division.

Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of NAIA agents intercepted around two dozen live reptiles intended for export to Taiwan on Thursday, Feb. 18 at a DHL warehouse.

The package, which held two venomous spitting cobras, eight pit vipers, and 15 sailfin lizard was declared to contain “souvenir items” by a certain “Adrian Lim” from Pasig City. It was consigned to a certain “Ryan Su” of Taiwan.
The wildlife species, concealed inside the native purses of bamboo chimes and lanterns, were discovered by joint agents from Port of NAIA including those from the Export Division, Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), Environmental Protection and Compliance Division (EPCD) , X-Ray Inspection Project (XIP), Customs Intelligence and Inspection Service (CIIS) and DHL.

Beware of the “parcel scam” or the “love scam” – a fraudulent scheme of an unscrupulous syndicate texting, calling, and even emailing their victims about cargoes and parcels addressed to them.
The Bureau of Customs-Port of NAIA (BOC-NAIA), in its latest advisory, warned the public about the fraudulent scheme, which it tags as parcel scam or love scam.
Under the scheme, target victims are asked to pay “clearance fees” for the release of supposed cargoes or parcels addressed to them.
At times, the syndicate members drop the names of Customs officials to make the “transaction” appear legitimate.
