As Gatineau and parts of the Outaouais prepare to partially reopen on Monday, Ottawans and other out-of-province neighbours are being warned to stay on their side of the bridge.
The lifting of lockdown measures for Gatineau, Pontiac, and the MRC des Collines next week mean high schools and certain non-essential businesses will reopen for in-person service, including cinemas, retailers, spas and personal and esthetic care providers.

Elementary schools in the area reopened last Monday. Gyms and in-person dining remain closed, though the curfew for the region will be moved from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Ontario is extending the provincewide stay-at-home order until at least June 2, Premier Doug Ford announced Thursday, saying it is too soon to ease up pandemic restrictions that have been in place since early April.
“The situation is slowly trending in a better direction,” Ford said, “but make no mistake, we are not out of the woods yet.”

Ford said his goal is to have “the most normal July and August possible” if people can maintain restrictions for a few more weeks. That will not include large sporting events or concerts, he said, but, “I believe we can have things in a very good place this summer.”

Winnipeg-area MP Kevin Lamoureux to mark National Nursing Week with a livestreamed meet-up with Manitoba nurses and nursing students. (1 PM)

Brampton North Liberal MP Kamal Khera to pay a virtual visit to a pop-up vaccination clinic at the Brampton Islamic Centre, which, as per the notice, will also be livestreamed on the prime minister’s Twitter feed.(2:45)

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, who is also set to take the lead for her government during the opening round of question period this afternoon. (2 PM)
