Ottawa woman arrested after stabbing incident

February 23, 2021 Latrice Wright – Photo LaSalle County Jail OTTAWA – An Ottawa woman is facing battery and deadly weapon charges after an investigation into an alleged stabbing Monday morning. The Ottawa Police Department say they were called to the 2100 block of Somerset Drive where they found a male victim with apparent stab wounds. Authorities took 37-year-old Latrice Wright of Ottawa into custody and charged her with 2 counts of Aggravated Battery/Use of a Deadly Weapon and a Violation of Bail Bond Conditions.  She was taken to the LaSalle County Jail being held on $150,000 bond. Main St., Ottawa, Keagun Wagner, 31, Lane, was arrested on a Franklin County probation violation warrant.  • 4:31 p.m. Sunday, 3400 block of Interstate 35, Perrion Burnett, 21, Little Elm, Texas, was arrested in connection with possession of marijuana after a traffic stop. Burnett was cited and released with a notice to appear.  • 11:29 a.m. Tuesday, 334 N. Main St., Ottawa, Kayla Underwood, 31, Ottawa, was arrested on two Franklin County felony warrants for failure to appear.  • 11:42 a.m. Tuesday, 334 N. Main St., Ottawa, Kyle Fermyn, 29, Lane, was arrested on two city of Osawatomie warrants for failure to appear.  • 4:12 p.m. Tuesday, 3900 block of Interstate 35, Remedan Aklile, 25, Lenexa, was arrested in connection with driving under the influence and criminal damage to property. 

A state grant is funding early child care in the Ottawa area

The Herald Staff The Ottawa area is set to benefit from a portion of more than $2.1 million in grant funding that has been awarded to fuel  All in for Kansas Kids, a program used by the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund for distributing money and resources for childcare and related services across the state.  Ottawa was among those that received a grant submitted by Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas. Ottawa is working collaboratively with Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas, Chanute and the Hi-Crest neighborhood of Topeka. Ottawa received over $22,000 to support existing providers to offer high-quality care for infants and toddlers and create 10 additional slots for children birth to age 3 during nontraditional hours.

Franklin St., Pomona, Taylor Larsh, 30, Pomona, was arrested on a Franklin County warrant for a probation violation.  • 5:42 p.m. Monday, 3700 block of Interstate 35, Eric Sifuentes-Rivera, 35, Oklahoma City, was arrested and released on a notice to appear for driving with no license.  • 1:55 a.m. Monday, 2900 block of Interstate 35, Johnnie Williams, 65, Fulton, Mo., was arrested in connection with driving under the influence and no liability insurance after being reported as an erratic driver.
