MARNE, MI – Brightly lit carnival rides will fill the Berlin Fairgrounds in Marne this weekend, but seats will be vacant because the event was canceled.
The Skerbeck Family Entertainment Group was gearing up to host its first carnival since October 2019 when Wright Township officials informed the business the permit was denied because it wasn’t turned in on time.
“It’s extremely unfortunate,” said Sonja Skerbeck, a co-owner of the carnival company. “It’s just been one of those years having a hard time getting anything off the ground.”

I heard on Monday that Bob Snyder hated everything I wrote about him over the years. Well, this time, he’s no longer around to complain about it!
Bob Snyder passed away on Saturday. Bob was instrumental in the development of the Nor’Easter Club. He owned the Catawba Leasing Company, and previously co-owned Riehl Manufacturing Company, Port Clinton Prop Repair, Cedarlane Campgrounds, and Catawba Mid-Way Marina.
Bob went on to develop Catawba Mini & Heated Boat Storage, The Marsh’s Edge subdivision, Catawba Bay subdivision, and the expansion of the Sutton Center. Bob was a philanthropist of the first order, especially locally.

MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – If last weekend’s walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Muskegon is any indication, demand will rise dramatically as eligibility opens to everyone beginning Monday.
The clinic held at Muskegon Community College on Saturday, March 27, initially was targeted at those age 60 and over. But when that age group didn’t show up in numbers expected, the clinic was opened to all age groups.
