As for cannabis, a man found five cannabis bales near the shore of a beach in Marathon about a year ago.
Several months later, the weed kept rolling in with the surf. Over August and September of 2020, almost 70 kg of cannabis was reportedly found in the area, including discoveries of about four kilograms and almost 14 kg of weed.

Nearly $2 million in narcotics were found in the water near the Florida Keys over the weekend, the U.S. Border Patrol announced, the Miami Herald reported Tuesday.
Over 70 pounds of cocaine and 62 pounds of marijuana were found by recreational boaters between Friday and Saturday, Border Patrol Spokesperson Adam Hoffner said, the Miami Herald reported.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials released two people from the group of eight Cuban men and women pulled from a makeshift boat that capsized Sunday after weeks at sea, an ICE spokesperson said.
