If approved… House Bill 508 would remove a link between gas taxes and wholesale fuel prices.  Some Kentucky groups are hoping lawmakers increase the gas tax statewide to provide more funds for road construction projects in the state. The sponsor of the bill says it’s to prepare the state for more alternative-fuel cars on Kentucky roads. State Representative Adam Bowling is reporting that his father, former state Representative Mike Bowling, has died.  Mike Bowling was an attorney in Middlesboro and resigned from the Kentucky Board of Education Friday.  He had represented the 87th District in the Kentucky House from 1991 to 1998.  Governor Andy Beshear called his death a “loss for the Commonwealth.”  Representative Adam Bowling said his father’s legacy is that he showed “kindness, compassion, empathy, and understanding” to all pe

Mike Bowling died surrounded by family Saturday morning, his son wrote in a Facebook post.  Bowling served as a state representative for the 87th District from 1991 to 1998 and worked as a lawyer in Middlesboro. He also served on the Kentucky Board of Education and stepped down earlier this week due to health reasons. Dad went to his forever home this morning. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, wrote state Rep. Adam Bowling, Mike Bowling s son who currently represents the 87th District in the Kentucky House.

Kentucky needs a comprehensive approach to substance abuse to curb the addiction crisis Adam Bowling and Tim Robinson, Opinion Contributor Kentucky’s addiction crisis is too substantial and far-reaching for any single legislator, organization or government agency to tackle alone. It’s a sentiment we’ve said and heard time and time again. And now, it’s the foundation for legislation we hope to see passed in 2021 to encourage a comprehensive approach to substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery across the state. If you’ve spent time in more than one of Kentucky’s 120 counties, you know how striking the differences can be from one county to the next. Some of these differences, things like geography and population size, are quite easy to recognize. But others aren’t so obvious and it’s these less visible factors that often impact Kentuckians the most.
