The Ballybofey men had chances to get back on level terms but they trailed 1-0 at the break.
Sean Boyd and Ethan Boyle missed big opportunities at the start of the second half and it looked like it might be a frustrating night for Harps.
However, Tunde Owolabi then won a penalty in the 75
th minute and Barry McNamee converted it.
Harps hit the front one minute later when Adam Foley showed great pace down the right and produced a smart finish for his sixth goal of the season.

Waterford FC remain bottom of the Premier League following a narrow defeat to Finn Harps at the RSC on Monday night.
Jamie Mascoll put the Blues in front after only three minutes when he brilliantly finished off a pass from Cian Kavanagh.
Brian Murphy produced a wonderful save from a Sean Boyd header on 29 minutes. Will Seymour and Tunde Owolabi both went close to equalising before the interval.
Sean Boyd held his head in his hands on the hour mark as Brian Murphy denied him with another world-class save.
The visitors did however get back in level terms on 75 minutes. Darragh Power was judged to have taken down Tunde Owolabi inside the 18 yards box and Barry McNamee sent Brian Murphy the wrong way with the resultant penalty kick.

GEORGIE KELLY starred on Monday evening, as his first-ever Premier Division hat-trick was key to a 5-1 win for Bohemians over Dundalk.
The goals will have been all the sweeter for the 24-year-old Donegal native, as they came against the club that allowed him to leave prior to the start of the season.
A terrific goal-scoring run at UCD saw the forward join Dundalk in the summer of 2018, but he never fully established himself at the Lilywhites and linked up with Keith Long’s side after going on loan to St Patrick’s Athletic last year.

Dundalk FC could do with a positive outcome tonight when they travel to Ballybofey to take on Finn Harps in the SSE Airtricity League (kick-off, 5.45pm).
The week at Oriel Park was marred by photographs circulating which appeared to show several first-team players in Belfast, in spite of government restrictions not yet being lifted.
Mark Anthony McGinley made three fine late saves to scrape Finn Harps a point in the face of a Dundalk onslaught in Ballybofey.
The former Donegal GAA goalkeeper denied both Ole Erik Midtskogen and Michael Duffy in a contest in which the hosts could ve been two up at half-time but would’ve been delighted in the end to leave with anything.
Then, in the last minute of 90, from a Patrick McEleney free-kick for Dundalk that was conceded by his brother Shane of Harps, Sonni Nattestad headed into the mix and somehow Harps survived.
Junior Ogedi Uzokwe then saw McGinley turn his curling free onto the crossbar.
