Update: During Tuesday’s San Francisco Board of Supervisors meeting Aaron Peskin and Sandra Lee introduced legislation that would give $1.9 million in relief for Chinatown restaurants. The fund would pay Chinatown restaurants to cook meals through the Chinatown Community Development Center’s Feed and Fuel program, which Far East Cafe had participated in previously during the pandemic. As Lee cited the lack of funding from the city, it s possible he could reverse his decision to close.
San Francisco is losing another one of its oldest restaurants this month.
