NEW YORK - Cops in New York are investigating yet another apparent hate crime against an Asian person.
Someone assaulted a 48-year-old man on West 43rd Street and 11th Avenue in Hell s Kitchen on Wednesday just before 10 a.m., the NYPD said.
The attacker repeatedly punched the victim in the face and yelled, Go back to your country, police said. The deranged assailant then bit his victim s fingers, severing a fingertip, police said.

The commander of the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) Asian Hate Crimes Task Force said anti-Asian hate crimes in the state are “absolutely not new,” despite the recent spike in the number of offenses.

As instances of Asian hate continue to plague the city, the Asian Hate Crimes Task Force set out to put an end to these crimes.
The force was created last August with 25 detectives who speak about 12 Asian languages.
“A lot of the Asians believe it or not they’re very hesitant to report crimes and even if they report it, they don t always follow through because of the language barrier,” said Sgt. Supervisor Detective Squad Stacy Lee.
