IPC pay tribute to late Vietnam NPC vice-president Phiet who dies at 71 Friday, 23 July 2021
The President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Andrew Parsons has led tributes to the vice-president and general secretary of the Vietnam Paralympic Association (VPA) Vu The Phiet, who has died at the age of 71.
He was known as a pioneer of the Paralympic Movement in Vietnam, and helped lay the foundations and develop Para-sport in the country for 30 years - introducing hundreds of people with disabilities to sport. On behalf of the IPC, I would like to send our condolences to Phiet’s family following his sad passing, said Parsons.

Bhutan poised to make sporting history with Paralympics debut in Tokyo Sunday, 18 July 2021
Bhutan, the tiny Buddhist kingdom nestling in the Himalayas, will make sporting history next month by making its debut at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
One of the newest National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), having formed in 2017, Bhutan is expected to field four athletes.
Gyeltshen Gyeltshen and Chimi Dema have qualified for men’s and women’s shot put F40 respectively while women’s 10m air rifle SH1 shooter Kinley Dem and Para archer Pema Rigsel, competing in men’s recurve event, are keeping their fingers crossed on making the cut.
