Cumbria County Council has officially confirmed that it deleted a proposal for parking restrictions in Longtown. In March many residents were outraged after the authority mooted plans for restrictions on English Street, Main Street and Bridge which included a one hour waiting time and parking permits for residents. And hundreds signed a petition voicing their opposition. The issue was discussed at an online Arthuret Parish Council meeting on Tuesday. Karen Johnson, parish clerk, read out the response from the county council. She said: I received a response on April 23. The proposal has provoked a high response of objections to those who would be directly affected, so the comments made by those consulted were considered.

A London man and woman face drug and weapons charges following a police investigation into a shooting last month that injured a 20-year-old man.
The man showed up at hospital on April 22 with a gunshot wound.

London police said their investigation revealed the man was shot inside an apartment building on Dundas Street near English Street in Old East Village. The shooting was not random, police added, saying a firearm was recovered.
