Casa Lake County’s annual gala on Thursday, May 20, will honor Ryan Dempster, former Chicago Cub great and current sports broadcaster. Dempster will be honored with the Terri Zenner Award for his longstanding work with child centered charities, as well as his commitment to family and community philanthropy.
State rental assistance program opens May 17

The Illinois Rental Payment Program is an emergency rental assistance program designed to support households in Illinois that are unable to pay rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The state will begin accepting applications at 9 a.m. Monday, May 17. Tenants and housing providers must submit a joint application together.
Applications are available at ILRPP.IHDA.org.
Applicants are eligible for up to 15 months of assistance from June 2020 to August 2021.
The grant can cover the past due rent from the previous 12 months and future rental assistance for the next three months, if deemed necessary.
