Chelsea Jade is escaping the US and making the arduous and isolated journey home, all so she can perform live for us once again. It s possible she has other reasons to come to Aotearoa, but most importantly she s sharing her incredible songwriting talents with the country for seven shows this February / March, with special guest rising Tāmaki artist
deryk (who launched her debut EP
Womb in 2020), including appearances at the
Big Gay Out, the
Hamilton Gardens Festival. Since her debut album
Personal Bestmelted all our faces off in 2018, Chelsea Jade s kept busy touring, writing and recording new songs between here and LA. Then, just as my last skin graft finally healed, she dropped new track Superfan amid lockdown chaos and my face melted right off again. Here s hoping the holy trinity (flights, a hotel, a negative Covid test)

After a year that saw Broadway and the West End face a seemingly never-ending curtain call, local audiences can rest assured that the pandemic won t stop Auckland artists from putting on a show this year.
While the Level 4 lockdown in March sent a seismic jolt through the country s artistic community, cancelling dozens of shows and festivals and forcing numerous venues to shut their doors for months on end, theatre and arts organisers are hoping 2021 will deliver a better performance.
In the first half of the year alone, Aucklanders will be able to enjoy live comedy, catch up with their favourite local authors, and experience a plethora of theatre, dance and music spread across a broad-range of festivals that are making a comeback after being forced to take the last year off.

Anna Coddington - Raglan
What makes Raglan unique/iconic in New Zealand?
The surfing, though I don t partake, and the scenery and beaches generally. Also the people it s a great community and there are a lot of artists, musicians, creatives and characters.
What s the first place you d recommend to a visitor?
The campground beach. There s a great playground and pump track for kids, you can swim and jump off the bridge (if the tide is high enough, do not attempt if it s not), and there are good fish and chips at the campground shop. You can walk across the bridge into town for a change of scene if you feel like it.
