Elderly Care Home Residents Receive Vaccine In Chile
Chile s Health Minister Enrique Paris visited the care home and met with the first elderly residents who were vaccinated on Monday.
Elderly care homes in Chile began vaccinating their residents and workers Monday, as part of second phase of a national vaccination program.
The first person immunized was 79-year-old Laura Areyuna, a resident of the Nuestra Señora de Andacollo care home in La Serena, a northern region of Coquimbo, some 460 kilometers (286 miles) from Santiago.
President Sebastian Piñera said most of the at-risk population will be vaccinated during the first three months of the year, while most of the general population will get their doses through the first half of the year.
