NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Downtown New Orleans’ first and largest signature mural collection expands with the addition of “You Are What You Eat” by New Orleans native and artist, Jessica Strahan. Strahan’s work is the seventh mural featured in
Unframed presented by The Helis Foundation, a project of the Arts Council New Orleans. Strahan was the first muralist to be announced from the
Unframed 2.0 international call to women artists, which resulted in 82 submissions. “You Are What You Eat” is located in
Legacy Park at 730 Baronne St.
“Jessica celebrates New Orleans’ distinctive culture in her artwork,” says The Helis Foundation Managing Director Jessie Schott Haynes. “She not only captures the city’s rich community, but she engaged with local students to create this impressive and vibrant mural.”

AKA NYC has announced that Producers Blair Russell, Dale A. Mott, and Nolan Williams, Jr. have been chosen as the inaugural recipients of the newly formed Black Producer 500 Hours Initiative. This groundbreaking program donates 500 agency hours of creative, strategic, and marketing work to emerging, independent Black producers to help build the vital tools needed to bring their vision to life. The goal is to help open doors for new, diverse, and necessary storytellers on Broadway stages and in arts and performance spaces across the country.

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Louisiana residents may continue to enjoy a free day of admission each week to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA), courtesy of funding from The Helis Foundation. Previously free on Thursdays, the “Art for All” free day of admission for residents will return to its normal weekly Wednesday schedule starting March 3.
The Helis Foundation also sponsors a weekly free day of admission through its “Art for All” program at other New Orleans institutions Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans Botanical Garden, and Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans, as well as a monthly free day at Louisiana Children’s Museum.
