“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” the September 2020 statement read. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From
Marshall to
Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. He died in his home, with his wife, [
Taylor Simone Ledward], and family by his side.”
The 21 Bridges star has been nominated for multiple posthumous awards this season, from a Gotham Award to a Film Independent Spirit Award.

Pittsburgh-based fashion designer Tereneh Idia says she’s been thinking about constellations since visiting the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
“I’ve been obsessed with the idea of how constellations are made and how we identify constellations in space,” she said. “I saw that there are peoples of these countries that we now call America that saw the darkness in the sky as constellations, as well as the lights.”
There are few living talents who could be viewed as much of a New York theater institution as George C. Wolfe, the two-time Tony-winning director whose overall grasp of the arts is such that he speaks in cascades of enthusiasm and insight that he can barely contain. But if you want to get his goat, just ask him about opening up a celebrated play for the big screen, such as he did with August Wilson’s “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” in which Viola Davis plays the title role.
“I would like to take the words ‘open’ and ‘up’ and stomp them,” Wolfe says. “You can’t think about that.”
