TapChief is Unacademy’s seventh acquisition in the past 12 months, and will enable the edtech startup to build Unacademy Pro.
SoftBank-backed edtech startup Unacademy has acquired TapChief, an online platform for professionals to earn incomes without full-time jobs.
As per the deal, Unacademy will pick up a majority stake in TapChief, ascribing it a valuation of Rs 100 crore and providing an exit to existing investors. TapChief had
raised a total of about $2.2 million from investors like Blume Ventures, Paytm, 500 Startups and angel investors like Cred founder Kunal Shah, Udhyam founder Mekin Maheshwari, and Slideshare founder Amit Ranjan.
This acquisition will enable the edtech startup to build Unacademy Pro, a platform which helps you become a Pro and get your dream job , Unacademy Group co-founder Gaurav Munjal said on Twitter without disclosing any further details.
The first episode will be aired on Airtel DTH on 14 February

In this series, containing four episodes, expert faculty from Aakash Institute will come together to address career-related queries and concerns of students and parents regarding their career choices and ways for tactful learning. The content of the series will focus on topics ranging from ‘how to choose a career that will be satisfying’ to ‘how to aim for a top score in NEET/ JEE’.

Mumbai: Edtech startup Simplilearn is in talks with global funds to raise $100-$150 million, as it seeks to provide partial exits to some early investors and raise primary capital for business expansion, sources close to the development said.

BYJU’S is reportedly set to acquire the brick and mortar preparatory services institute Aakash Educational Services for a whopping $1 billion.
If the deal goes through, it will become one of the biggest edtech deals in the world.
Interestingly, Aakash Educational Services in November 2020 had appointed Abhishek Maheshwari as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
