Officers from the Nipissing West detachment responded on Monday at 1:18 p.m., after an initial call to the Markstay-Warren Fire Department of a vehicle fire on Kukagami Lake Road, about five kilometres north of Highway 17.

Human remains were located in the vehicle. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
An investigation by the Nipissing West OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Service continued Friday, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal.
