Stourbridge ATC Cadet Sgt named Lord-Lieutenant s Cadet

A MEMBER of Stourbridge Squadron Air Training Corps has been awarded the prestigious role of Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet for the West Midlands. Cadet Sergeant Alex Brown, aged 16, has told of his delight at being selected for the top role which is awarded to one cadet from each of the six regions of the UK. Cadets are selected and appointed based on their outreach and participation within their squadron, detachment or unit, and the role is seen as one of the highest achievements in the Cadet Forces. As the Lord Lieutenant s Cadet Alex’s duties will include accompanying the Lord Lieutenant at events such as Her Majesty the Queen s garden party and other military services including Remembrance Day and Battle of Britain day, as well as royal visits to the Midlands.

Brick Lane Brewing donated 10 cartons of its Brick Lane Draught to each of six local RSLs in Dandenong, Frankston, Seaford, Cheltenham, Longbeach and Cranbourne. “We wanted to support our local communities,” founder and managing director Paul Bowker said. “There’s so many people who have served for us and it was important for us to recognise that and say thanks – by serving them some beers of course. “It’s a very easy thing for us to grab 100 cases out of the brewery and for our team to drop them off on their way home to some local venues.

On Prince Philip’s death, the Family instigated a two-week period of mourning, whereby only certain appropriate duties were carried out by family members. Those that did perform official engagements wore black as a mark of mourning.
