7 killed as Air Force chopper crashes in Bukidnon
Published January 17, 2021 1:22am The Philippine Air Force reported that one of its UH-1H helicopters crashed near Bukidnon s Barangay Bulonay on Saturday afternoon, with the seven people aboard killed in the crash. In a statement, the PAF said that the helicopter, along with another UH-1H, was on a resupply mission for the Philippine Army s 8th Infantry Battalion when it crashed. Soldiers of the 8th IB rushed to the crash site to secure the aircraft and its four aircrew and three passengers. According to 4th Infantry Division spokesperson Major Rodulfo Cordero Jr., the chopper experienced engine trouble.

Indonesia has deployed a remotely operated underwater vehicle to help divers search for the remains of victims and recover the flight recorders from a Sriwijaya Air jet that crashed into the sea three days ago soon after takeoff.
The Boeing 737-500 plane with 62 people on board plunged into the Java Sea Saturday afternoon, four minutes after taking off from Jakarta’s main airport.
Indonesian police made the first identification of a victim from the crash on Monday. Flight attendant Okky Bisma was identified by his fingerprints, said a police official.
Indonesia retrieves black box from crashed plane

It s not clear if the plane’s flight data recorder or cockpit voice recorder was recovered.
Indonesian authorities have retrieved one of the black boxes from a Sriwijaya Air plane that crashed into the Java Sea at the weekend, a navy spokesman said on Tuesday.
The recording device was being transported to Jakarta’s port, spokesman Fajar Tri Rohadi told Reuters.
Local television footage had earlier showed a white plastic box holding the device aboard a speed boat.
It was not immediately clear if it was the plane’s flight data recorder or the cockpit voice recorder that had been recovered.
