Child younger than 10 becomes P E I s 2nd person in hospital due to COVID-19

Posted: Apr 18, 2021 1:45 PM AT | Last Updated: April 18 The previously announced hospitalization has been moved into intensive care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the province says.(Brittany Spencer/CBC) P.E.I. is reporting three new cases of COVID-19 and a second person is in hospital in the province related to the virus. Dr. Heather Morrison, P.E.I. s chief public health officer, made the announcement in a news release Sunday. The new cases include a child younger than 10, an individual in their 30s and an individual in their 50s. All three cases are related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada. 

N B Confirms 10 New COVID-19 Cases Sunday

Six of those cases are related to previously confirmed cases, while three are under investigation. The remaining case was discovered in the Saint John health zone. Seven people recovered since Saturday, and there are now 153 active cases province-wide. Twenty patients are currently battling the virus in New Brunswick hospitals, 12 of whom are in an intensive care unit. Edmundston School Infection Staff and students of École Saint-Jacques in Edmundston have been asked to self-isolate until Friday, April 23 after a confirmed case was discovered at the school. Public Health will test the school community in the meantime. A possible exposure was also discovered at Cité-Des-Jeunes-A.-M. Sormany in Edmundston, and the province is asking anyone who may have been at the school on April 12 to self-monitor for symptoms.
