Kochi (Kerala) [India], December 30 (ANI): Air Intelligence Unit of Customs Department has allegedly seized 3.26 kilograms of gold, along with seven I-phones and 30 cartons of cigarettes, from eight passengers in five instances in Kozhikode and Kannur International Airports on Wednesday. The Air Intelligence Unit seized 2.97 kilograms of gold from Kozhikode International Airport and the rest 290 grams seized from Kannur International Airport from the eight passengers. The seven passengers were returning from Sharjah in Air Arabia flight whereas one passenger was from Dubai, said Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive), Kochi.
Further investigation into the matter is underway. (ANI)

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], December 28 (ANI): The Chennai Air Customs arrested three persons including one airport employee with a total of 4.77 kilograms of gold valued at Rs 2.47 crores.
As per a statement, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) on Monday received intelligence that gold was likely to be smuggled from Dubai through Emirates flight and close surveillance was kept in the transit area.
The accused have been identified as M Nizhalravi (29), a software engineer and Niyamthullah Hadi (35).
The AIU noticed that as soon as Nizhalravi exited the transit toilet, Hadi entered. Nizhalravi was searched and 27 tens tola gold bars weighing 3.148 kgs, gold chains and hanging air studs were seized from his possession.

Kochi (Kerala) [India], December 22 (ANI): The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) on Tuesday seized around 599 grams of gold foils valued approximately at Rs 26 lakh from a family travelling from Dubai here at the Kozhikode International Airport.
Sharing information, Commissionerate of Customs (Preventive), Kochi tweeted, Air Intelligence Unit Batch B at Kozhikode International Airport seized 599 grams of gold foils worth 26 lakh from a family arrived from Dubai by Spice jet flight SG 141.
The gold foils were concealed in the checked-in baggage and were pasted on the corrugated cardboard sheets of bedsheets sets, it added. (ANI)
