WHAT could account for the heightened state of insecurity in the South East? This was the poser five governors and heads of the security agencies in the region raised when they met on Sunday, April 11, 2021 in Owerri, Imo State capital, during the first South East Security Summit. Many people are asking their own question: Don’t they know the reason?

ISLAMABAD: The government Monday promoted Air Vice Marshal Hamid Rashid Randhawa, Inspector General Air Force at Air Headquarters, to the rank of Air Marshal. Air Marshal Hamid Rashid Randhawa was commissioned in PAF’s GD (P) Branch in June, 1988.
He has commanded a fighter squadron, a flying wing and an operational air base. He has served as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Safety) and Personal Staff Officer to the air chief. He has also worked as Air Officer Commanding PAF Academy Asghar Khan, and Additional Secretary at Ministry of Defence. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders’ School and National Defence University, Islamabad. He is a recipient of Tamgha-i- Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military).

The Outfit Is Suspicious
Intersociety is strongly suspicious of the panicky and hurried announcement of the new security outfit by the Southeast Governors Forum. Coming when all hopes have been lost from state actor angles, forcing most citizens of the Region to place their hopes, expectations and solutions on the table of non state actors; we are very surprised to hear the sudden announcement.
Intersociety also doubts the sincerity and genuineness of the promoters of the new security outfit. It is doubtful, too, whether critical indigenous stakeholders and other interest groups were duly consulted and carried along. The new outfit is most likely a baptism name given to the 2019 illegitimate and unpopular “Community Policing” arrangement by the same Southeast Governors during which all the security chiefs that

Air Marshal Sir Roy Austen-Smith, who has died aged 96, flew on operations during the final weeks of the war in Europe, saw action in Malaya and later held senior appointments overseas.
He trained as a pilot in Canada, and in March 1945 joined 41 Squadron based at Eindhoven flying the Spitfire XIV. For the next six weeks he flew almost every day on armed reconnaissance sorties and fighter sweeps into Germany.
