FORMER talented Teifi Valley rally driver, well-known businessman and top tenor Washington James, of Cenarth, has died aged 87. ‘Washy’ as he was popularly and affectionately known and who ran Cenarth Garage and bus company for many years, died peacefully at Glyn Nest Baptist Home in Newcastle Emlyn. A singer of note, he won the Blue Riband at the 1993 National Eisteddfod at Llanelwedd, Builth Wells. In his younger days he was part of a highly successful rally team alongside co-driver Alun Rees of Carmarthen and navigator and co-driver Hywel Thomas of Neath, both of whom have passed away. He prepared a Hillman car at his garage and the three friends took part in the 1970 World Cup Rally against top works teams and professional drivers from all parts of the world.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) â One of the most recognized aspects of SDCCU Stadium may have been removed, but it will find a new home at San Diego State s forthcoming Aztec Stadium.
The large 45 foot-by-150 foot mural on the back of the stadium s scoreboard was untouched despite four different stadium names and teams leaving. But as the crews continue to slowly demolish the 53-year-old stadium, passerby s will notice the mural is no longer there.
Despite some fans hoping to take home a piece of the art, similar to how mementos of the stadium were auctioned off, the mural isn t being sold.

Shane Stroberg stared at the two blue plastic seats resting against the wall in his office.
The seats represent a lifetime of memories as an athlete and a fan of San Diego sports. They used to be a part of San Diego’s old concrete stadium in Mission Valley; seats 16 and 17 in one of Jack Murphy, Qualcomm, or SDCCU’s sections.
“It was something I had to get just to remember,” Stroberg said softly. “To me, those are seats for my grandfather and my dad, the men that showed me that place.”
