THE RSPCA is urging councils in Greater Manchester to consider easing some locally-imposed rules where dogs can be exercised as dog walkers comply with lockdown rules. Many Councils across England and Wales have previously introduced Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs), which often include strict rules on where dogs cannot be walked. In Bolton PSPOs in a place in many parks and outdoor spaces, often in areas dedicated to children s play or sports areas. These include sections of Queens Park, Astley Bridge Park and Egerton Park. These PSPOs were reviewed in October 2020 and remain for a further three years. The RSPCA is calling on local authorities to temporarily relax these rules to prevent unnecessary travel.
