An
improved Northern Mystics pounced on a storming start to
clinch their first win of the ANZ Premiership, posting a
64-58 win over the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel in
Auckland on Saturday.
In a high-scoring showpiece, the
Mystics rebounded from a bonus point loss in the opening
round to produce a telling first quarter from which the
valiant Steel never recovered.
After scoring an upset
result over The Good Oil Tactix, the Steel couldn’t
replicate their heroics of the previous week, finding life
not so easy against the Mystics who held the upper hand
throughout.

Steel’s ardent fans have welcomed their new-look shooting
circle with open arms as the southern recruits spearheaded a
surprise and commanding ANZ Premiership win.
Pundits
had The Good Oil Tactix as strong favourites for the Round 1
match at ILT Stadium Southland in Invercargill, but it was a
hungry hometown team which set the bar, dominating in all
areas, for a 54-36 victory on Sunday night.
It is only
within the last few weeks that Steel coach Reinga Bloxham
has been able to work with her entire squad – English
import George Fisher, who arrived in the country late last

The Good Oil Tactix will head south for a dress-rehearsal
of their 2021 ANZ Premiership season opener against
netballing neighbours, the Ascot Park Hotel Southern
Steel.
It will be the first opportunity for players to
put their pre-season preparation into practice when they
suit up for two matches, on March 12 and March 13, at The
Southern Trusts Event Centre in Timaru.

Marianne Delaney-Hoshek said she was looking forward to
getting the players back on court against a team they would
meet in their 2021 ANZ Premiership opener.
“We’ve
been working hard in pre-season but it’s really exciting
