Sri Lankan cricketer Gunawardene cleared of corruption charges Tuesday, 11 May 2021
Sri Lanka’s Avishka Gunawardene has been cleared of two breaches of the Emirates Cricket Board’s (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code, while one charge was proven and three dismissed against Nuwan Zoysa.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced Gunawardene and Zoysa had been charged back in May 2019.
Gunawardene had been charged with directly or indirectly soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating any participant to fix a match.
He was also charged with failing to disclose to the anti-corruption unit (without unnecessary delay) full details of any incident, fact, or matter that comes to the attention of a participant that may evidence corrupt conduct under the anti-corruption code by another participant .

Dubai, May 10 : Sri Lanka cricketer Avishka Gunawardene has been cleared of match-fixing by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The left-handed batsman can now resume cricketing activities. An independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal of has unanimously cleared former Sri Lanka player of two charges against him under the Emirates Cricket Board s Anti-Corruption Code, allowing him to resume participation in cricket with immediate effect, said a statement from the ICC.

An independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal has unanimously cleared former Sri Lanka player Avishka Gunawardene of two charges against him under the Emirates Cricket Board s Anti-Corruption Code, allowing him to resume participation in cricket with immediate effect, said a statement from the ICC on Monday.

Dubai [UAE], May 10 (ANI): An independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal on Monday unanimously cleared former Sri Lanka player Avishka Gunawardene of two charges against him under the Emirates Cricket Board s Anti-Corruption Code, allowing him to resume participation in cricket with immediate effect.
The Tribunal, which also considered charges against Sri Lanka s Nuwan Zoysa for four counts under the same Code, has upheld one charge (2.4.6) against him while dismissing the other three charges.
The detailed decision will be announced to the parties in due course and remains subject to appeal. The ICC (acting on behalf of the ECB) will consider the written reasoned decision in full before making any further comment.
