Pakistan: Human rights defender abducted without race
Seengar Noonari, Labour Secretary of the Awami Workers Party (AWP) and lifelong activist, was abducted from his home at 3am on 26 June 2021 in front of his wife and three young children. 15 men in plain clothes ransacked his house before blindfolding and taking him away. The abduction came the day before a National Day of Action was being organized by AWP to protest alleged illegal land grabs by private property developers. His wife has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court demanding the disclosure of his whereabouts and for him to be presented in a civilian court, in lieu of an immediate release. TAKE ACTION

IGP, DG Rangers put on notice on plea against illegal detention

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notices to federal and provincial law officers, Sindh inspector general of police (IGP), Rangers director general (DG) and others on a petition against alleged detention of an Awami Workers Party activist by law enforcement agencies.
Petitioner Fouzia Seengar submitted that her spouse Seengar Noorani was picked up allegedly by personnel of law enforcement agencies on June 26 in Kamber-Shahdadkot and his whereabouts were still unknown.
She submitted that the detainee was taken into custody without the commission of any offence and no FIR had been lodged against him. She requested the high court to direct the police and other law enforcement agencies to produce her husband and provide details of cases, if any, against him.
