POLICE cordoned off a street in a Somerset town for a period to carry out a low level rescue this morning (Wednesday) Fire engines, police cars and an ambulance were at the scene of the incident, which unfolded in Upper Church Road, Weston-super-Mare shortly before 11am. Police appealed to the public not to be alarmed by the presence of so many emergency vehicles. A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue later said: We were called at 10.49am today to rescue a man who was later transferred to the care of the ambulance service. The incident is now over. Police block major Bristol road after man dies
Emergency crews remain at the scene
Police have blocked a major Bristol road after a man died.
The Portway in Bristol has been cordoned off after a man reportedly fell in the area.
The road, which connects Bristol city centre to Avonmouth Docks, is partially shut to traffic with cars being brought to a halt and buses being diverted.
According to the fire service, a team was called at 5.50pm to the area following reports a man had fallen.

Porsche crashes through railings into kitchen window in Bath
Police and fire crews are at the scene
A Porsche has crashed through railings and into flats on Laura Place in Bath this afternoon.
The crash reportedly happened around 1.30pm today (Monday, April 19).
According to our reporter at the scene, Nancy Connolly, a large crowd of onlookers and several fire engines, ambulance and police are there.
The car has crashed through a kitchen window of one of several highly sought after residential apartments on Connaught Mansions in Laura Place.
One onlooker was heard to say: “I thought this kind of thing only happened in movies.”
